Chocolatier Melissa Crandley left her corporate job to pursue her passion for the culinary arts and a desire to form lasting relationships with customers and community. Melissa had an ambitious growth plan (and an irresistable product!), but she felt she lacked marketing expertise and the ability to create an elevated, premium brand experience.

Sustainable DTC Growth Tactics

Instagram and email were MECHA’s biggest and most under-utilized growth levers, so we began by managing those channels. We also knew we had to evolve the MECHA story in a way that connected with her audience but didn’t abandon her farmer’s market roots (an important revenue stream). We elevated the brand perception through monthly content shoots, creating photos and videos that generated demand on key marketing channels. We tapped into the “foodie” culture, aligning her products with gourmet partners, and working with Melissa to create products that supported this positioning strategy. These tactics generated enough revenue to increase spend on customer acquisition and branding efforts. In 2019, we completed a full rebrand, including a redesigned website and packaging, timed strategically to fuel excitement and buzz around the opening of MECHA’s first brick-and-mortar store.
